My 5” Hyphy is fun but requires driving to a park, and my Whoop is a great option for flying around the house but can’t be flown the same way a brushless can. So I wanted to build a 2” to fill that in-between role — something I can take out in the front yard and fly at a moment’s notice, or keep with me to fly other places I happen to be, but that can still do tricks like a brushless.
Originally I used the full HGLRC F428 stack with VTx, but the 20x20VTx mounted on the stack prevented me from tilting the camera back very far. I recently crashed upside down in a water-filled rain gutter and shorted out the VTx and FC. I replaced the FC with another F428, because I'm happy with it and didn't want to replace the ESC board that it mates with. But I took the opportunity to swap the VTx for an AKK Nano2, which is smaller (which frees up space for the camera to tilt back farther) and also includes SmartAudio. This incarnation is much closer to perfect.
