Update: Rebuilt with some Brain3D goodies.
HyperLite FlowRide build with cheap Banggood parts. Under 500g UAW with lightweight 1300mah battery.
It has the double smart combo, Frsky SmartPort and SmartAudio. So you can configure your VTX through your Taranis. Just need to remap LED_STRIP pad to be a soft serial TX pad for SmartPort on this FC. And connect SmartAudio wire to TX6 pad.
BTW the pads on this FC are tiny, so be careful.
I also set yaw rotation to 90 and remapped the motors for so I could turn the board 90 degrees for USB access on side.
Reflash all of the firmwares with latest stable releases.
FYI turtle mode and motor beep work on Blheli_32 now.
The way in which I extended the motors wires is kind of interesting. I used these heat shrink tubes that have solder inside them.
I LOVE it that you put racerstar motors on KabobFPV's frame. I'm gonna make one with the same frame/motor combo. I might even try to organise a racing league with ONLY kabobFPV frames and racerstar motors, I bet he will crack up when he finds out.
There are other very humorous things about this build that weren't intentional, like the 17 sma adapters on the vtx antenna and the and the receiver antennas being sacrificed to the propeller gods. But I am proud to say that the Racerstar motor thing was totally intentional. I don't think that KababFPV will care at all though. I did it just to entertain myself.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

how habe the motors been? heard great things and some not so great things
They seem inefficient and underpowered to me. I have tried other budget motors that are only slightly more expensive than the Racerstars. They have all felt better than the Racerstars. I have had no durability issues with them. But I am going to switch to different motors when I get the chance .
What budget motors have you tried? RCX? DYS?
Aokfly, DYS Samguk, KwadBox CheePass. I haven't gotten any RCX yet. I will soon also try AMAXinno and the cheaper HyperLite.
Out of Racerstar and three others I have tried I would rank them best to worst:
Aokfly is not very surprising since it costs about 50% more. It feels closer than other motors in performance to a high-end motor, like BrotherHobby, to me. CheePass is the cheapest and I like it better than DYS Samguk. Had to replace a DYS Samguk already due to stripped motor base threads. The aluminum was very soft on mine. CheePass isn't the best performing motor at all but it is good enough for Freestyle and it has been very durable. It also comes with very long wires. Racerstar wire must always be extended if using a 4in1 ESC. That is kind of annoying. That lack of wire length plus lack of performance puts them at the bottom for me.
I expect either the AMAXinno or HyperLite to be contenders for the top spot based on the data I have seen. RCX too. I have no personal experience yet though.
I have also been meaning to try the new EMAX Lite Specs. I think those should be good.
Glad to hear results and comparisons from someone who has owned most of the popular budget motors. Id recommend u try the rcx rs2206. Im surprised to hear about the cheepass motors being high on your list, as the people ive talked to who have owned the motor say it doesnt produce enough thrust to be worth it.
My freestyle builds are usually very lightweight ones like this one. So I guess the CheePass is just good enough. Even with the different stator sizes and Kv, CheePass might win. Looking at the thrust tables that are available. This Racerstar motor only produces a tiny bit more thrust. But this Racerstar is much heavier and a little bit less efficient. The DYS Samguk, to me, seems to just be a Racerstar in an prettier lighter naked-bottom package.
