2” build with option to go to 2.5” props.
For the frame on this quad I chose a 2.4" Hyperlite Tooth Fairy. I liked the shape and how simple this frame is. It has everything you need and none of what you don't. Here you can see the bare frame with motor and standoffs.
I wanted something powerful, but durable. I chose the HGLRC F428 flight stack with 28a ESCs and the TX-20 VTX. The FC has an F4 chip, OSD and enough 5V power to run what I need. The ESCs will have way more power than my batteries can give, and be a good match for the EMAX 1106 motors. The 1106 motors will give me more power than I know what to do with. Here is the ESC all wired up:
Here is a view of what my stack looks like all wired up. I tried to keep it as clean as I could and run the wire between the boards.
For the FPV cam I used the HGLRC Elf cam that came in the kit. As far as I can tell, it is just as good, if not better than a micro swift. The mount for the frame can be used on the front or back of the front standoffs. When using it behind the front standoffs the plug of the camera hit the VTX and really didn't allow much camera tilt, so I put the camera in front of the standoffs. There is less protection this way, but I can get more tilt on the camera. Here is a view of the side of the camera mounting.
Besides the camera placement, this was a pretty straight forward build. I put a bit of hot glue at the base of the antenna and heat shrunk it to a small zip on the frame. I put the RX just behind the camera with some double sided tape. I'm not sure if it will stay there, but we will see.
I will add flight thoughts and updates as they come.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Is there room to flip the camera mounts around to put the camera further "into" the frame? Any recs on this build or frame?
I still have to do the write up and take some better pictures for this build, and that is a good thing to include in that.
I tried flipping the camera around, but it's really tight against the stack. If I wasn't using the TX-20 VTX it might fit. The connector on the camera is right up against the VTX, so I can only get about 10 degrees of tilt. I liked the protection it provided, though.
It was a pretty easy build. There is enough space in this frame for the stack with the HGLRC standoffs, so no need to modify anything. Hard to find a place for the RX (it's bigger than the XM+ in my other build), but I taped it to the back on the camera and that seems to be ok for now. I'm skeptical that 2.5" props will fit it. I think they would be pretty tight, but I'll have to test that sometime.
Yep... I know the "tight" fit of a camera against the stack. too bad we cannot clip the picture upside down with the Swift Micro as you can with some AIO and CMOS type set ups... That would make life quite easy!
