Beautiful build! Which width of wire mesh did you use for the motor wires? They look like they're fabric and not plastic.

Thanks! Those are 6mm cable sleeve, they are plastic.

What a fantastic build. I'm about to build one almost exactly the same. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind ;-)

  1. What is the lowest camera tilt you can have with the Eagle 2 Pro on the Rooster? I'm worried that standoff and the size of the Eagle lens is going to limit how low the tilt can be.
  2. Where did you solder the TBS Unify onto the Spedix. Do you have a picture? I'm guessing you wouldn't have the battery leads, capacitor and TBS all on the same +- pads?
  3. Did you have to extend your motor wires?

Thank you for the feedback!

  • Lowest is 30 degrees.

  • For the TBS power source, I used the vtx+/- of the CLRacing F4s FC which is outputting a 9v. Battery leads and capacitor is on the batt pads on ESC

Did you have to extend your motor wires?

  • Motor wires is more than enough, no need to extend.

Thanks so much for response. Is your FC getting its power source only from the JST wires from the Spedix? I was wanting to use the VBAT pads on my FC but I'm thinking the JST wires are so thin and probably wouldn't carry the full VBAT power to the FC? Also, do you know why the Spedix JST connection has 2x positive and 2x negative leads? I thought one of each would be enough.

Yep, I've used the jst on the spedix to power the FC, and I've used as well its current sensor so I did bridged one of the joints to prefer an external current sensor instead of the internal from CLRacing F4s. The other +/- from spedix you can use on powering your VTX HV (optional). Good luck on your build, send me a link once you've uploaded it here. Thanks!

Hi, how did you fit the runcam eagle? Mine is too wide.
I had to sand off 0.5mm from the sides.

22b   Mar 02, 2018

No issues on fitment on my end, btw mine is the runcam eagle 2 pro the one with plastic casing. Maybe ur using the eagle 2 version with the metal casing.

SwissCanuck   Mar 02, 2018

Yes I have the metal casing.
I had to sand off a bit on the sides to make it fit. As you can see in my build... https://rotorbuilds.com/build/10613

Cheers

Does the AXII antenna suffer from being so near to the frame? have you tried with a non-stubby version?

22b   Jan 26, 2018

Been using this so far on all of my armattan builds, jap and chameleon.. im not noticing any issues, never tried a non stubby version but im using pagoda before and the performance of this is at par.

Nicely done, I like how you routed the motor wires, makes it very clean and easy to service.
Good luck on your maiden ... she should be a blast to fly!
Cheers ...

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
