This is my freestyle build to carry Foxeer Box 4K camera. I've tried to make it nice looking, still with top notch performance. Had to design custom rack to carry VTX and receiver, as well as custom antenna mount. Both are 3D printed from TPU. No zip ties, no scotch tape. Antenna holder is
My choice of ESC is Tekko32 35A. They came naked, even without heatshrink wrap. Found themlooking too cool to be mounted with electric tape, so i've placed them into ESC cases to protect from elements and propeller strikes. It's the first ESC which had pads for telemetry located next to signal and ground pads for convenient and easy wire routing. Still controller provides only one pad for telemetry RX, so had to do some tricks to get all 4 esc connected together to the same pad.
I'm more than enjoyed the results. It's very responsive and can do 1100dps flips, at the same time even with my poor pilot skills i can fly it between trees in the park, hover steadily on the same spot 2 inches above the ground and land it on the A4-sized sheet of paper.
Motors and FC are soft-mounted. Setup is very clean from noise and vibrations and flies with all gyro and d-term notches disabled. Cutoff frequency for LPF on gyro and D-Term is increased to 120hz cutoff. No prop-wash and high throttle oscillations.
The only down side - got it too amp hungry. With camera and battery it weights 650g and eats 1500mah battery in 3 min of relaxed flying. Going above 60% throttle results in 90A+ current reported by all 4 ESCs together. At 100% it shows 140A. I have lighter props ordered, will try them next weekend. But still letting it go full speed and hearing this beast roaring in the sky is real fun.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
