UPDATE: Quad decided to make an unclimbable dead tree with vines and crackling branches as its final resting place. RIP.
UPDATE 2: Might just rebuild this again, but this time with more LEDs and colourful neon props so it will be easier to find. The HGLRCs are a bit too sensitive I believe, so will be looking at other stack alternatives.
This is actually my first quad build. Had a Walkera and a PNP Diatone GT-R90 plus a couple of Whoops but was inspired by Albert Kim's 2s build using the Akitainu frame and decided to go for an ultralight 3" quad with 1408 motors. Looks wise I was inspired by the murdered-out looks of the Furibee Darkmax.
So far it handles great, but I had to soft mount the motors and the whole stack to get rid of vibrations which made the quad drift to the left in angle mode. Flies fine in Horizon and Acro. Also as Albert Kim pointed out in his video the 2.1mm lenses won't fit in this slim frame, go for the 2.3mm instead.
Chose 1408 motors paired with the HGLRC stack powered by a Tattu 4s 650mAh, I think it's a pretty light build with extra punch. Now to see whether it can carry a Gopro or not!
ADDED : Total weight is 135.4g. I thought it was a fluke but I ran a couple of packs of the 4s 650mAh lipos and I'm getting 10+ mins of flight time if I was just hovering (was just testing my drifting problem). I'm assuming I can get at least a good 8+ mins if I was to fly regularly.
Wow. Great first build... looking for a three inch that has some power to it. This may be my build.
Will mention your @ once i finish it!
Lookin GOOD! You really cured drift with motor soft mounts?!? My current setup has annoying drift every time I do a pre flight hover in stab mode. I don't think too much of it cause I fly in acro, but I sure would love for it to go away.... Motor soft mounts eh? I always thought that was just for sensitive gyros, but i'm willing to learn something new. I'm on a dys f4 pro, so i'm soft mounted at the stack, and running an mpu 6000 so I wouldn't think it would help... guess I have to try it now!
I don't think the motor soft mounts solved it, as it was already on when my setup was drifting. I think it was my stack soft mounts. I actually used rubber bushings that came off some parts from my Axial Yeti! But yeah, it solved my problem! Of course I did everything else that you'd see on Youtube though.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
