The frame is based on the SCX200 LowPro available through Armattan but it uses only the arms and 2 mid base plate. When constructed it is rotated 90 degrees to how the SCX is built. This places the 20mm standoffs towards the front and rear, ideal for mounting the pod.
Available on Thingiverse. This is the first working version and has a few issues where pieces were joined together in Tinkercad. The next version will be redone from scratch to correct these issues.
A few things to note, the cam is fixed at 50 degrees. The antenna is also tilted 50 degrees so that it is upright during flight.
Now the fin... I think fins look dumb but this one serves a purpose! Firstly it is there to protect the antenna in case it takes a direct hit from a gate or branch. A direct hit may tear the nylon and rip the antenna out. The fin help to protect and add strength to the antenna.
Secondly, it adds a little height to the pod so that turtle mode can be used... if I crash on a patch of very short grass.
On previous builds using the CL Racing flight controller Ive had issues with velcro loops of the battery strap bending part of the SD card slot. This results in issues locking/holding the card in. So for this build I place a piece of plastic under the flight control which separates it from the battery strap :)
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

How is that antenna working out for you? I'm considering using it on a future build.
I typically use a dipole, so my bar isn't very high, but I've got no complaints with it.
I'll hopefully link some DVR in the description this weekend and you can check it out.
DVR added to description. This is on F1, Tramp 25mW, to a pagoda on skyzone V2.
Looks like it works quite well!
