Got a hold of an Atmospheric Adventures Artemis Pro frame and focused on building it up as light as possible. Used some non-traditional parts to cut grams. Ended up with 220g (including EVERYTHING but battery). Although the Pro crane is meant for racing, I can't stop flying this thing - whips around like nothing... Couldn't find a link for the Artemis Pro (which weighs in at 43g) so I used the regular Artemis in place.
Some video (needs tuning)
I noticed you've been laying your RX antennas horizontally at 180 degrees rather than at a 90 degree angle to one another. Does this work well for you? I thought they had to be 90 degrees for the best signal.
You're correct - when using a receiver that has diversity antennas then mounting them perpendicularly is a best practice. The DSMX satellites (and clones) have two antenna elements, but they aren't diversity - one is the ground plane, so the DSMX satellite elements make up one antenna. At least that's how i understand it ")
Any regrets going with BLHeli instead of BLHeli_s?
I've seen you use that camera on a few builds. I was tempted to buy it for my upcoming build, but I opted for the tired and true 600tvl version.
The 700tvl version has much better image quality then the TIRED and true 600tvl cam. I opted to use this cam for this build simply because of weight. The image is great, but its a CMOS - leaves one wanting in the area of light transitions. For $11 and resulting crisp image - I might start using this on more builds. I've considered trying to merry up a Micro MinimOSD right behind it (similar chip size)...
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Im still a little new so silly question. But what do you use the PDB for in the build if the 4 in 1 has a BEC built in? Just curious because im doing a build similar to this in a day or two so i was curious.
I'm not using a PDB. I am using 5V off the 4-in-1 ESC to power the flight controller. Additionally, I'm using a small 12v regulator to power the VTX and the VTX to power the camera. Let me know how your build goes!
Oooh I got ya. I was worried id have to throw a PDB in the mix considering my biggest draw to the lumenier 4 in 1 was the 5v out, no PDB. Good to know, thanks!
