Previously, this setup was on a second Intrepid 4", then moved to a SabotageRC Bangarang, and then finally moved to the Intrepid 3".
The higher 3750kv 1408 F20II motors were getting pretty hot in all of the 4" configurations that I tried. The weight doesn't come down a huge amount with the 3" frame, but the prop loading with the 3x4x3 props is a bit lower and the temps have definitely come down.
All the previous setups had the Runcam Split 2, whereas for this build I switched to the Foxeer Predator V2 and tried out the Runcam Mini DVR. Turns out the Predator is a great camera and the Mini DVR is solid. There's another 20x20 DVR from HGLRC, which records 24fps, breaks up the video into the 5 minute segments, and has a somewhat more limited pad layout - The Runcam breaks files up every 5 minutes as well, but there's an optional firmware that changes that to 10 minutes, and it also records 30fps. The resulting video is good enough, typically I'm not breaking out a micro quad to do really HD-worthy flights, but I do like having some recording going in case something rad happens, and the onboard DVR skips the video breakup which is nice.
Apart from that, it's a pretty typical build for me. There's a new Intrepid Pro frame coming from AirbladeUAV soon that may have dual 20x20 stack mounting as well as GoPro Session mounting ability, but I still like the original Intrepid platform a lot.
Nice build! Do you know how much current it draws at full throttle? I have the same motor-prop combination but can't get current sensing to work :/
I have been using an 850mAh on my 3" stuff lately - pretty good flight times, even though it's a little tubby. I'm sure your 650 will tolerate it, might be sketchy if you want to be at full throttle for more than 10 seconds(?)
None of my quads fly great at 100% anyway, efficiency really drops off and vibration ramps up.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Hi so did you have an issue with placing the Predator standard v3 camera in this frame? I have this frame also and was thinking of getting this camera but did not want the micro size prefer this standard size.
No issues whatsoever, all of the Intrepids that I have built use cameras like the Predator standard or the Runcam Split 2 - without spacers they fit almost perfectly, directly into the frame with two screws on either side.
