Quadimoto v2

Quadimotos Frame v1 was a Hack. A terrible, terrible Hack. (Here is some flight-footage, electronics are still the same)
The baseplate was the only part of the frame I bought that was usable in the end, everything else was cobbled together from stuff I could get on the cheap.

Fun thing: the baseplate was the first part that really broke.

So now I had to aquire another frame and transplant my stack/motors/Split2 into this.

Here's the maiden flight:

Finding cheap 3" frames is easy - finding 3" frames that can hold a full sized stack AND a mini-sized camera isn't. Finding a cheap 3" frame that does this AND doesn't show props in view seemed pretty much impossible.

The frame I used in the end "kinda" does this all. It's dirt cheap, it holds the stack and the arms are at a strange angle that moves the props out of the way.

But:

  • The included camera mount is fixed at an angle of zero and wouldn't hold my RunCam Split2 (used my old method of screwing/zip-tying in the bracket that came with the camera and broke out some small part of the frame to allow for at least a slight angle)
  • the bottom of the frame is open right below the stack - I probably will either top-mount the battery and/or add a thin plastic plate onto the bottom, secured by screwing into the stack-screws

at least I like the all-red colorscheme I currently have going wit standoffs/strap/rotors - didn't plan for that, but it's nice anyways

I'm currently not quite sure how well betaflight will cope with that strange motor layout and if that camera angle will be enough. We'll see.

Weight has gone up a bit, what now pushes it to 198g without battery - that's a bad thing because now with 4s/650mAh, I'm a bit over 250g - so I'd need a spotter fpr FPV in germany.

Staying below 250 is still possible by resorting to 3s 550mAh - those still fly fine, and 3s is more than enough on these 4100kV-Motors, but it's just not as fast as possible.

It flew, no props (or anything else) in view, but it feels a lot slower than my old build (mostly due to restricted camera tilt)

still, it's a pretty powerfull HD drone that can do some acro stunts. - just no longer feels like the most powerfull I ever had.
