This is the quad that I flew at Drone Worlds 2016.
The Atmospheric Adventures Kratos is a pure racing machine. The designer, Bulbufet, originally set out to create an airframe that he wanted to fly and solves all of the major issues that he has had with existing options. The two primary concerns were (1) lowering the camera towards the ground while still protecting it against damage in crashes, and protecting the VTX from all possible damage that would be caused by an antenna taking a large hit. Beyond that, thinking about the Kratos as a racing machine, we decided to support 5” and 6” propellers, and develop it as a “stretch-x” frame, which is the ultimate racing form-factor.
Noticed on your release video you talked about using alternative screws on the HS1177 but didn't have a solid size to use. Do you happen to know?
Awesome build! I use those engines, and I might suggest 30a ESCs. I have seen 130A+ on 5x4x4 on these engines on my OSD . . XS30 rock, and Aikon 30A can use the new Dshot protocol.
Congrats on the 2nd at Nats and Worlds. Couldn't get a little Simple Green cleaner on a rag to that HS1177 before the photo shoot? Jk, Looks good man. I like the design elements. I like the easy access to VTX and antenna strain relief mounting, but still looks like the antenna can get into the props and end your run. There's witness marks on the antenna that look like prop scrub... but in all fairness may not be from this particular build. I like the look of the lower mounted camera as well. Do you think having the camera lens in line with the props causes the lens to get more dirty with crap being slung on it? Any benefit to reversing prop rotation if so?
Can you link the LED you have soldered on top of the ESC?
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
