been doing a lot more racing and have had my 4s packs all start to fall over.. so i bit the bullet and built a proper 6s low kv version of my raptor racing rig to replace the 2600kv version i killed racing a few weeks ago..
while my 2150kv 6s version is a blast to fly its way to fast for my level of racing hence this guy
i actually have a pretty major update coming to the airframe in the way of an alloy mid plate but i got an interesting message from my machinist today.. he's keen to cut the new mid plate out of magnesium which is 33% lighter than alloy and just as strong.. i don't think amy ones produced a racing frame using magnesium yet so it will be interesting.. will build 2 identical birds to test the mag alloy vs the carbon mid plate.. should be interesting as I'm not sure what the resonance properties are like
looking good, that build looks nice. About to put together my 20x20 with the AIkon ak32pin and the talon f7. Let me know how that magnesium plate holds up. Also how much does the frame weigh?
Personally I would worry about magnesium, on the off chance you start a lipo fire (rare these days) and you catch the magnesium on fire, you will not be able to put it out. Safety first!
How do you like those Gemfans? I just bought some to give them a try.
i really like them. they are not fast at all but they are really smooth and have great response and control.. perect for racing when your a bit slow like me ;D
Awesome! I heard they can explode during flight. Ever had that happen?
not in sunny Sydney.. ive flowen em on 2350kv 6s.. no exploding props
