Continuing the success of our AirBlade Intrepid line of frame, I'm giving you the AirBlade Intrepid 5 Inch. The vision for AirBlade Intrepid 5 inch is a mix-use design for freestyle and long range, with long range being the emphasis.
This frame is designed using the same philosophy as his 3 inch and 4 inch brothers, namedly
The effect of incorporating all those design philosophies is that

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With a bottom and top plate that long imma need a 3mm bottom plate. At this size 2mm is just too thin, gonna get trashed in crashes. Give me a 3mm option and i'll buy!
I got similar feedback during testing, but instead of going 3mm I've opted to add another set of standoff and screws in the middle of the frame which adds major support to long frame. It doens't add as much weight and it def strengthen the plate substantially.
I thought about that 4th pair of standoffs and what they would bring to the table. I have tested both options on similar 5" rigs. The 4th pair of standoffs isn't enough to keep the bottom plate from perpetually cracking, while you can make the bottom plate 3mm and NOT add the extra 2 standoffs and the plate will survive.
