This.... is a trophy. I was passed this project by one of the most very well-knowns on Rotorbuilds. To have only received this in the mail (from far, far away), no strings attached, made me feel very special indeed. I got 3 frames (obviously... only using 2 for this one, so... building another micro quad with the extra), 4 canopies, an FC, a couple ESCs, 8 motors, and an XM+. I had been wanting to either build an X8 or a flat-X-OCTO, and the stars aligned such that one of my very favorite builders decided to hook it up. I have always been very "off-the-shelf" with my builds, and this one... is gonna push me a little more while giving me the know-how to construct and extra-special upcoming monster rig (I live a somewhat charmed existence I guess).
All that aside... what I have here is an OCT-X8 configuration 2" micro. Yes, the build is cramped. I just built a 2.5" hex, and this one is really two micros with a stack in between them, and so it is really just wire management task(s). I take my time and mock up a zillion times before doing any cutting, stripping, or soldering so NBD for me. My micro X8 has a fantastic layout IMO as the stack is completely protected between the standoffs and frames and the cam is on top in a canopy completely outta the prop view. There is one huge PITA going on in a build like this: you have to leave a way to get the FC in and out it you wire up all 8 motors or be willing to unscrew them to get the top frame off. I had just enough room to get it in diagonal.
Yes... I bought a whole buncha new parts. WTF can I say... I am very OCD about my builds. The only 8 DSHOT output 20MM FC on the market is the Matek F722 Mini. If you've seen my builds you know I love Matek. That kinda makes that decision for itself. I did have to map the motors... NBD. I got a steal on these two 20A Hak RC ESCs, and that is exactly how I prefer it in a micro. No need to go crazy there. The motors... I needed 8 for for two quad builds and I wanted something special for this one and I caught these T-Motor 1106 F15's for a truly mad price, so that made the most sense (plus... they are orange! aesthetics! I woulda preferred the 4500KV, but I don't care...). This was my first micro with an XT60, and I think Ima start doing that from now on. The tiny 4S with XT30 is too limited and the bigger plug is more trustworthy IMO. 4S 2" and 2.5" is the absolute shizznit if you've never flown 'em. Hot AF like a high KV 6S! I go cheap on the AIO cam as my micros are not LR, and use a trusty XM+ and some 2" HQ tri-blades FTW. I XT60 CapCap'd it just to be a smartass. Back to Venom for clean power on-demand (and the best price and form factor in a 1000MAH 4S XT60. Can you find them in a shop? I can't, but there are plenty on eBay).
So... this is what I did to your rig kwadkenstine. I hope you dig it. I always include a little thanks to the builders and shops that help me along the way, but you are the only one to thank for help on this little monster. Thanks. Your builds are what we should all aspire to be able to do. A technology can only progress if we do things that are non-standard, and imagination and innovation are what makes a thing special. I truly appreciate you picking me man... this was a real honor.
Edit: ... and then I remembered this is a Dave_C Calimero canopy. Thanks to you as well sir. We all love your designs.

Cool man , I didnt know you posted this till today , Thanks for the bump up. I am looking foward to see it , Still no strings. YOU ARE A GOD
This really is kind of amazing. Blimey, that 20x20 has 8 inputs? Good show Matek, and good show you getting this together. Please, please post some footage of it in the air!
Well. That gets about, doesn't it? When you are doing the low passes, you can really see it moving. Blimey. And it's surprisingly stable and jello-free considering all those motors whirling about. So was the 1:43 actually the battery time, or you just staying on the safe side as you had no OSD? But regardless, strong work, great build!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

So how is the beast going and how far off is the next build, I havent said much . But i am really impressed and glad i sent the bits to you , Cheers
Well... itis a BLAST to fly. Unlimited thrust makes it really hard to put down. Mr. Shen is gonna take a little more time on his Thicc's, and so this is my 8 rotor for the summer, which is great because I LOVE micros!
