As the new so called drone laws are restricting nearly anything in the hobby above the 250g mark, I've decided to give up on the 5" miniKwads and build myself a new 4" one.
But I will still be owning my "LoneRangrXL8"!
The second one is based on the skystars grx4 frame, and will be powered by an GHF411 AIO and iflight xing motors.
Update I:
I've seen and heard about the "frsky workbench problems", that when the rx is too close to the tx, there is no signal (RXLOSS/BADRX in betaflight). I gave the frsky xm+ rx a try, and after this copter cutting my left arm because of RXLOSS (standing behind it), I got outside to have some fun with it anyways. Regardless to say, that there was no fun for me. After launching, I gave a full punch to it and immediately RXLOSS popped up, I gained control back - but stopped flying and removed this frsky xm+ rx for the trusty (no rssi) fs-rx2a.
I hope I'll get my hands on an ExpressLRS mini rx, otherwise I have to find another good rx with at least rssi.
Update II:
Sometimes, you reach out for help and than there's someone who can and is willing to help (for money of cause)! Now I have the tiny frsky r9mx receiver, flashed with ExpressLRS - happy flying!
Update III:
changed the motors to the emax rs 1606 3300kV, they fit better the prop size and LiPos I wanted to fly.
Update IV:
after disassembling my TP3, i took the caddx baby turtle from it and swapped the caddx ant for this.
now i can have HD video on this awesome build.
Update V:
Remixed a good canopy from thingiverse to fit the caddx baby turtle and the vtx, also ordered the longest M2 (30mm) screws for mounting secure. And I've ordered new propellers from HQprop, the old 4x4.3x3 where way to heavy pitched. Also testing the avan scimitar, they where intended to be used on my QAV180 The"in-between" .
Update VI a:
It's killing my batteries, I really need some help on this. I think it's too light for the powerful motors. I've changed props a couple of times, but I'm missing the opportunity to go full throttle a few seconds with "LOW BATTERY" at the late end, but I get this warning about 60% (I think) and it's almost immediately.
Update VI b:
Changed the motors to my beloved GepRC speedx 1408 3500kW, the emax RS1606 3300kV are now on my QAV180 with the emax avan scimitar.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
