Maybe a little silly considering the spacious nature of this frame...however, the goal of this frame is to create the smallest possible stack using the fewest number of discrete pieces. I think this fits the bill.

I know the build options say racerbees, but I could not for the life of me find the old MRM Zeus_S escs on any website. These are BL-heli S capable, and I think DShot capable, but will need to check.

Suppose I should elaborate on the nature of this build. I was working the Safety Third Racing booth at the New York Maker Faire in Queens, NY this year and I thought: wouldn't it be nice to have a show-build to demonstrate what part of this hobby entails - building and repairing? Well, cue a few purchases from Pyrodrone later and there I was stocked up with all the parts necessary to build this bad-boy.

This was build on the first day of the event - Saturday, starting at maybe 2:00 pm. Given the simplicity the parts and how easily it all comes together - seriously, the through-hole esc power and battery taps are a god-send - this thing was done basically by 4:00. And that was with frequent interruptions from kids and parents who wanted me to explain what was going on.

In order to top the build off, I decided that it would be rather appropriate for me to swag out this build with safety third logos, hence the big safety third sticker on the top of the quad.

The only couple things I think I will change in the coming weeks is how the antennas are mounted - need to mount them to the bottom plate given how the receiver is trapped between the vtx board and the FC. Also, I need to FINALLY cap off the battery pigtail with an xt-60 plug and zip tie it down to one of the standoffs to make it stay out of the way of the props.

What's the weight on this build? Looking to do something similar.

solaireFPV   Sep 28, 2017

Oh, hell I have no idea. I will chuck it on a scale later and measure it.

This build was made super stupid simple by the component selection, just a note, i swapped out the flanged lock nuts that came with the hyphy and used some plain jane locknuts from an old as fuck frame kit. that made everything fit nicely

Will also update with better pics soon.

cool, thanks!

304 grams without battery and props.

Why the T1?

solaireFPV   Jul 13, 2017

Honestly, IDK. They were the first ones I came across that I liked...

Whiffles   Jul 13, 2017

I think I was considering that motor for a build a couple months ago :)

Ended up not choosing the T1 motors...as you can see

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
