This is my second brushless build. All the parts on this frame were transplanted from my first build, the Owl from Flex-RC.
This is a great little frame, though not very roomy. This flies very nicely and is currently under BetaFlight 3.1.7 with gyro notch filters 1 and 2 off and has almost no propwash on hard turns. It appears that this frame is discontinued (not counting the knock-offs). I picked this frame because it looked plenty strong and well made, which is true in both cases.
I have been flying 3s 700 60C, but have some 850 4S packs on order.
Updates:
I killed my FuryF3 flight controller and replaced it with the RotorGeeks F3. It performs every bit as well (I can't tell a difference), and the receiver gets voltage from the USB, which is the only actual gripe I had with the Fury. The FC is now soft mounted, and the PDB was swapped out - The old PDB (Diatone power HUB had the solder joints directly under the FC, and one particular crash squeezed the soft mounts just enough to let the battery in solder joint to touch or arc over to the SDcard holder on the FC, killing it, an X6B receiver, and an SDcard.
I also went up to 30MM standoffs between the plates, the build was very tight before, and I am going to order a CCD camera soon, probably a Swift Mini.
I also went fro DYS 3045 triblades to RaceKraft 3030 triblades. I felt my motors were just a little hotter than I was comfortable with and the lower pitch seems to have given them a little breathing room for turning off the notch filters under 4S. Under 3S, there was no heat issue at all.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
