AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

Neat, do you plan to shoot some AP with this? This might make a nice platform for a compression mounted 3-axis gimbal.
When I finally get my racing quad up and running I'll convert this to a more camera-platform friendly design. I've been toying with the idea of getting longer arms and bigger motors and doing a 6S conversion. I'll see what kind of money I'm able to scrounge up
I think you're better off investing extra funds into a good gimbal, like the Z1-Tiny2. You'll get a much better result with a good gimbal than good components. Plus, those SunnySky motors are very good in the first place. If you shop around and wait for a deal you can get the Tiny2 for less than $200.
Awesome. I think I'll do that instead :D
Legend has it hobbyking let them go for $80 every now and then, and gearbest sells the tiny2 under the "ideafly" brand for $176.
Just finished front mounting mine to the discovery with almost no damping.. testing soon. If that fails I'll try mounting similar to Hba8103's design posted on rcgroups with the tarot/happymodel dampers I got. If that doesn't work, on rails in suspension out the front or slung underneath with legs :)
