Broke an arm off my Youbi Awesome XV-130 and instead of buying a replacement frame I'm getting an entirely new one. Frame thickness is twice as thick so hopefully it will sustain more newbage.
Frame quality is good. Design is simple and well layed out. Some of the edges were slightly rough so the last finishing touches seemed to have been skipped. Supplied hardware is just enough, no extra spares.
The Youbi was more of a dead cat layout with wider front arms. The H130CF frame is a wide rectangular layout. At my level I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a quad and a brick let alone a few millimeters on the front arms.
It's gained a bit of weight with a substantially heftier frame, CCD (was a tiny 1g cmos), OSD and the EMAX motors. Sitting around 159grams, it's about 30 grams heavier. Hopefully the extra KVs will make up for this.
Jerry helped me rig up a camera mount system...with silicon o-rings to dampen mechanical keyboard...haha. I have a Runcam Split coming which will be replacing this anyway
UPDATE 1 July 2017 - Runcam Split installed! the controller just barely fits and had to go between the 4in1 and FC because of the the FC VTX antenna...wifi module doesn't fit :( and USB port is hard to get to...and SD card is not removable because of the locking slot type.... ugh... need more creative juices...
UPDATE 13 July 2017 - Just got the new RotorX RX3044T props - these are siiiiick light - can't wait to try them
A Video with 3045BN (haven't tried the rx3044t yet...have a feeling I won't be putting these back on if I take them off.... hurry up and break already...)
UPDATE 14 July 2017 Tested out the RX3044T props - they are awesome. louder than the 3045BN but much lighter and more thrust. These badboys are keepers
RIP 13 August 2017 stay tuned for the transplant...it's gonna be amaze-balls!
Try PiroflipRC's 3d printed mount. I have one on my Floss with a micro, and one on my 3" with a mini, and they work great. They also help with cleanliness. On second thought... I'm not too sure it would fit perfectly on the spacers on this frame.
thanks! These ones? The spacers are much narrower on this frame unfortunately. I like the idea though!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

How do you like the Split? I'm about to put one on a 3" build myself. I'm pretty excited to give it a try!
It's great for v1 with little niggles that should be fixed for v2 (ie...no diode in voltage)
On a cramped 3" I'm struggling to get the data off - wifi module doesn't fit and I have yet to find a USB cable that can fit in the tiny crevice (need a slim profile 90 degree head)
So I've been tweazering the microsd out every time - major PITA
Oh boy! You've got enough space under the board to open the microsd latch? How are the vibrations in your footage? Got any to share?
yeah, just enough...getting it out is ok - pop the latch and shake it out.... getting it in is the hard part. Not easy to line up that microsd with slippery tweezers.
Here is a very raw, completely unedited video of the maiden. Unfortunately my goggles were crapping out and only had signal for around 50m in front of me. I've sent them in for repairs actually... by the end of the video I just flew LOS but my eyesight is limited around 50m as well with such a tiny craft. haha. Sorry it's long and boring, thus it hasn't been shared/posted/edited. But it doesn't seem to get any jello even though it was a sunny day for London standards. Plenty of lack of skill vibrations... as well as lack of tuning vibrations...haha
Thanks for the video. It's nice to see the vibration issue isn't affecting you.
