AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

If you want to save a little money you might want to buy the Pixhawk lite from Goodluckbuy.
I am on the fence with that exact decision. The only other FC I have worked with is the mutant APM in the CX-20 so the full size version is appealing but I really need to compare specs to be sure. Every time I think I am ready to start ordering I get hung up on another decision. I like the research stage and am guilty of spending lots of time on this part.
As far as I know the lite version has the same internal components and function, but the form factor is smaller and the plugs are a little different. You just need to research the plugs and make sure it'll work the way you want in that regard. One nice thing is you'll save a lot of space with a smaller unit.
APM 2.5 is 26$ right now and does everything. If you go pixhawk don't forget it needs a separate ppm encoder board if you run pwm from your radio.
That's a good point about the ppm encoder. Where can you find an APM 2.5 FC for $26? They seem fairly fixed at around $35 on eBay from 2.5 to "2.8".

I have a couple on the way, one from this seller. I´ll test and post feedback soon as I can.
apm is a great FC at a great price. I am looking to take a step up with the FC in this build. very true about the encoder. the chinese super happy fun time combo deal I posted has one. I am curious to see how that $26 apm works out. that is a great price. I am not familiar with that seller on aliexpress so I hope the quality is good. at that price I am really thinking about making a fun knock around flier out of spare parts.
Even better, that's APM 2.6. I guess Aliexpress is the place to buy APM flight controllers.
